When the fairy King and Queen quarrel, even the mortal world is not safe in Shakespeare's glorious romantic comedy, adapted for the ballet in this version from Bruce Wells. Already having enchanted audiences in the US, it's Canada's turn to enter the bustling forest at twilight, and discover the marvellous mischief of the fairy folk for ourselves!
Set a lush score by Felix Mendelssohn, we're invited into a world long ago where King Oberon and his Queen Titania are feuding. In the wake of their domestic upheaval, all of the realm's supernatural beings are a flutter, enjoying the show. When a band of mortal lovers enter the forest, following a troupe of actors looking for a space to rehearse, wires and wings really get crossed as the unwitting humans become yet more players in the game. Joyful, silly and filled with otherworldly beauty and fun, discover Wells' reimagining of this wonderful work as it continues to delight some 400 years after its first introduction.
